Coconut Loka was born from a deep belief that the finest things should be made without compromise.
Rooted in family tradition and refined over eight years, every jar carries the memory of something sacred and the promise of something pure.

Inspired by Watalappam, one of Sri Lanka's most beloved and ancient coconut desserts. Coconut Loka brings centuries of craft to Melbourne in a form that anyone can discover and fall in love with.

What began as a personal pursuit of clean, trustworthy ingredients grew into something greater, a desire to share one of the world's most extraordinary coconut desserts with Melbourne and beyond.
Made in Melbourne, with ingredients sourced from ancient rainforest highlands and the pastures of Victoria, Coconut Loka exists at the intersection of ancient craft and modern intention.

Spiced Coconut Custard

Every element of Coconut Loka is considered. At the heart of every cup sits a rare, unrefined nectar drawn from the sap of palm trees deep in tropical rainforest highlands of Sri Lanka, hand harvested by traditional craftspeople practising an art that is over 2,000 years old. Slow cooked over open wood fires in small village batches, it carries a deep smoky butterscotch complexity that nothing commercially produced could ever replicate.

Many suppliers cut costs by blending refined cane into their sweetener or adding preservatives to extend shelf life. Ours contains nothing but pure coconut palm nectar, exactly as it has always been.

The spices are ground fresh at the time of making. The eggs come from pasture raised Victorian hens. Nothing compromised. Nothing unnecessary. Ever.

Our cardamom, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg are sourced from their finest origins and ground fresh at the time of making every single batch. Not premixed. Not sitting on a shelf for months.

Ground at the exact moment they are needed in our North Melbourne kitchen.

Cardamom has long been valued for its warming, digestive qualities. Clove carries natural antimicrobial properties and has been used in traditional wellness practices for thousands of years.
Cinnamon — true Ceylon cinnamon, among the most prized in the world is known for its delicate sweetness and its role in supporting healthy blood flow.
Nutmeg, adds a gentle warmth and depth that rounds the entire flavour profile beautifully.

Together they do not just flavour the custard, they complete it.

Every cup is crafted fresh by hand in our North Melbourne kitchen, in small batches, with full attention given to every single batch.
Our eggs come from pasture raised hens right here in Victoria freely roaming and humanely raised.

The harvested coconut nectar and spices travel from Sri Lankan highlands. The care and craft happen right here in Melbourne.
